Beautiful mechanical puzzles in three dimensions

Cogs is an independently developed 3D puzzle game that uses some classic puzzle ideas and puts them together in compelling new ways.

The first thing you will notice about Cogs is the gorgeous presentation. Every menu and button looks and feels like part of some 19th Century mechanical contraption, moving under steam power. In this demo you can play 8 levels, each one unique with different aims although in essence what you are doing is always the same.

The game asks you to connect different parts of a puzzle together, sometimes on a flat plain, some times two, and sometimes around a cube. It's all done using the sliding square puzzle idea. You might have to connect pipes to allow steam to move from one side to another to inflate a balloon, for example. Each level begins with the pieces you need being mixed up, and it's your challenge to put them back together. There are awards for speed and number of moves used.

Once you've completed the the 8 levels in the main game, the demo's not over, as you can reply them all in challenge mode. There are two types of challenge, a timed mode and limited move mode. Both give the levels longevity, and just playing the game is really satisfying anyway!

This is a great introduction to a lovingly created puzzle game, and comes highly recommended.
